Informative Rejection!
Oh, that was interesting.
Basically, one of the agents I queried said no - but not because of plot or style or anything like that. Because the book ends on a cliffhanger.
I do know that’s a risk. Maybe in time it’ll change; but right now, it’s supposed to be that way. Book two resolves the cliffhanger; but in the meantime, this means that an agent has to be willing to take a chance that the publishers will actually want more than one book from me.
The publishers - who are currently, if rumor is true, failing fast and hard in the marketplace.
Oh, boy. What have I gotten myself into?
At any rate, I am VERY encouraged at the response. It shows I do have a good idea, and my style is solid. The only deciding factor was that cliffhanger? I can live with that.

Submitted!
Home again, home again, jiggety-jog, and I meant to do laundry today. And other various cleanings.
Instead, I submitted to literary agents.
I refused to put it off. Over the holiday, I not only completed the GreatBigEdit, I also tweaked a query and finished a one-page synopsis. There was seriously no reason to wait… aside from raw, jingling, tingling nerves.
Well, screw you, nerves. I’ve submitted anyway.
Now comes the stomach-churning weeks of waiting to see if I’ve found that magic combination.
(P. S. Personalized rejection letters are really, REALLY nice.)

Book two is coming along beautifully, as is the search for an agent. Just FYI, this site will eventually be shutting down; I'm not going to do it yet, but I have to protect myself legally if I'm going to be published. When ze time comes, I shall do what I must do, yes!
